Lieven Musschoot has designed the Pure C bar in Cadzand-Bad, The Netherlands.

Design a restaurant for everyone, a relaxed atmosphere in which the family is central and parts priority is. It’s a casual bistro atmosphere with lots of light, white interior and nature elements. The whole interior is tailored to the sweeping views from the impressive scenery around the north sea with the dunes. Formerly was the hotel restaurant which dated from the years 1970. In total, Pure C has a capacity of 180 persons.

The space divided into different zones with a flexible organization that allows many different scenarios. Guests have the choice between long tables in black wood trunk for large groups or small tables for two that can be discreetly screened with airy white curtains. Who particularly interested in the surrounding scenery can chose a small table by the window.

The most notable highlights are the large oval sitting island which is manufactured from mdf and lacquered in white. The cocoon effect is accentuated by an elegant white curtains round the perimeter of the cupolas. At night the skylights have a golden shine from the gold-covered with circular discs of light fixtures.

It is consistent with material color and mood contrast played. This gave the most open part of the restaurant, on the sea-side a light grey epoxy floor, compared with this, the middle zone, areas with lounge chairs are in white oak parquet.

The black glass walls define spaces away without losing contact. The bar area was unlike the other areas not white but a black stretch acoustic ceiling. The furniture is all white with shiny brown tones combined. Brown wood tones are complemented by the vintage cognac-colored leather seat covers, front desk and bar. Other atmosphere are the gas fireplace with floating glass, the dark slate of the pilasters, vase objects (atelier vierkant) and lounge furniture from Piet Boon and Max alto.

The Leaf House, a tropical beach house was designed by Mareines + Patalano Arquitetura is located in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Leaf House was inspired by Brazil’s Indian architecture, perfectly suited for the hot and humid climate where it stands, Rio de Janeiro. The roof acts as a big leaf that protects from the hot sun all the enclosed spaces of the house, such as the verandas and the in-between open spaces. These last two types of space are the main social areas, the essence of the design. They allow trade winds from the sea to pass trough the building, providing natural ventilation and passive cooling.

The architects see this as low-tech eco-efficiency where it has the greatest impact; as the concept of the architectural design. Mareines +Patalano, in agreement with the client, understand the idea of a tropical beach house as a means of enhancing the interaction between man and nature, trying not to separate them completely. There are no corridors and inside and outside are almost fused. Rain water is harvested from the roof for re-use. With its natural finishes, organic aesthetics and richness of details, the house is in harmony with the exuberant Brazilian nature.

Homes in the tropics rarely need much more than a breeze in order to keep the environment comfortable. As for other sustainable design techniques, the roof harvests rainwater for use in the house, and the interior is naturally finished with wood, stone and natural fabrics. We suspect the wood was harvested locally, and can only hope it was done so in a sustainable fashion. Above all the Leaf House is amazing inspiration for organic design that brings the outdoors in. It protects the inhabitants from rain and sun, while bringing in fresh breezes to cool the interior.

Simply a piece of paradise!

The Bouquet Chair by Tokujin Yoshioka is meant to bring a touch of summer and nature in your cozy crib.

Sublime simplicity for this innovative, amazing design by Tokujin Yoshioka.
“I got the idea for Bouquet from the installation I created last October for Moroso’s New York showroom. I used about 30,000 paper tissues to recreate a cloud-like atmosphere. The Bouquet makes people who sit on it happy, just as a bouquet makes the person who receives it happy. The vibrant, delicate colours trigger different sensations in each of us.”
The Bouquet chair “blooms” on a slim, chrome-metal stem that blossoms with white or delicately-coloured “petals” made of hand-folded fabric squares sewn one by one, with great care and infinite patience, to completely cover the internal surface of the egg-shaped, wrap-around shell.
Tokujin Yoshioka, is a great “couturier” with a meticulous eye for detail, he is a designer whose delicate, poetic, elegant designs help us to dream.
He likes to astonish us by producing surprising effects from simple, almost banal objects which he interprets and uses in an extraordinary way by means of his ability to see beyond and to reinterpret the world through the characteristic poetry and harmony of Japanese culture.

If you are interested in purchasing a Bouquet Chair you should check Moroso but keep in mind the price is a bit higher than you would expect (around 7800$).

The Botanist Series is a strong contender at the Cooper Hewitt People’s Design Awards …

I am not surprised at all. The collection not only eschews long-established design conventions but also touches on the realm of environmental consciousness without disentangling itself from its primordial properties.

Envisioned by Antonioni and designer Brandon Lynne, the Botanist series includes of a cocktail table, a nesting end table, and a bench. What distinguishes the series from the rest of the clique are its botanical graphic patterns, which are etched by using waterjet technology. Antonioni and Lynne refer to the pieces in the collection as “blank canvases” that are “adapted with color, finish, and graphics to capture emerging trends in design.”

Manufactured from recyclable aluminum, the collection is currently available in four powder-coated colors for which waterjet patterns are available and two real wood veneers. By utilizing the creative juices of established designers like Margo Chase, Milton Glaser, Kahi Lee, Brandon Lynne, Karim Rashid, Joseph Ricchio, Massimo and Claude Zellweger, this collection alludes to vibrant inspirations and styles that range from art deco to fluid flows, from the abstract to the ornamental.

The Botanist Series exhibits a predilection towards the current urban design process and its veritable effort to make a dramatic statement that reverberates with individualism and flamboyance. “The Botanist Series takes on the energy of fashion,” says Lynne, “evolving and reincarnating itself from season to season.”

The Summerhouse is a seasonal hideaway for a hackney-based family of four.

They all needed more and safe play space as the children are growing older. The new space should serve as a painter’s studio, garden shed, table tennis venue and sleep-over place. developing the somewhat neglected rear of their garden became and alternative to moving away into a larger property.

The outside of this timber structure is clad in thin skins. Beyond weather protection these surfaces are meant to re-enforce the presence of the garden and to frame the seasons. An 8m long mirror reflects the diverse floral range and defies the solidity and proximity of the wall it is mounted on. Semi-transparent striped polycarbonate interferes with the shadows of the moving leaves above. The summerhouse sits in the rear of an elongated victorian garden and the design attempts to screen out this urban setting. Baroque ideas of illusion, distortion, camouflage and capture of nature create a contemporary, rigorous and surprising building.

DRAW ME A SHEEP is a Belgium-based design collective, founded by two Royal College of Arts graduates in 2005.

Previously trained as furniture and industrial designers, BoYoung Jung and Emmanuel Wolfs installed their workshop in Belgium, and started their design practice which approaches design as medium rather than discipline. In recent years, DrawMeaSheep has produced series of objects that are often inspired by current debates in our society and culture. Sometimes thought-provoking and ironic, these objects remain functional as everyday items; however, they are also the platforms to share values and to challenge viewpoints that are both personal and universal.

Nature V2.01 project chair(2006) Inspired from world’s debates on GMO products and eco-crisis on earth, ‘Nature v2.01’ explores today’s struggling human relationship with nature and our desire for authenticity. More difficult it gets to find something authentic, more demands on ‘nature’ to be ‘natural’ – yet to the extent that it is allowed by people. Nature, considered to be original to its core, is increasingly becoming an interface controlled by man. The simple joy of breathing clean air, sitting on a tree trunk and listening to the birds has become luxury for some. And it seems that the search for true, unspoiled nature has never been so intense in the history of mankind. Our product culture, on the other hand, makes it desirable to involve nature in the manufacturing process to convey authentic value in mass production. On the assumption that our industry puts no limit to the transformation and reproduction of subjects with the pretense of progress, it is likely that some day we might encounter quare trees growing in rows. Thus, the design raises a series of questions about the attitude towards a possible future: Are we ready to change anything as long as manufacturing method is profitably innovative? If we bio-manufacture our furniture in order to get the most ‘authentic’ furniture with minimal modification, can we still call it nature?

Square Tree Trunk series are a part of NATURE V2.01 project. ‘Round’ is perfect in nature, but ‘square’ is perfect for industrial standard. To illustrate, square tree would enable wood industry to lose less material, to cut easier with machines and to store more efficiently. One sawmiller said, “I wish trees were growing square. Things people make with woods are square anyway, and we need to lose a lot by cutting out the rounded part.” Likewise, same ‘tree’ can be seen as a symbol of nature, or inefficient material for ’wood’ industry.
Would we actually get surprised by looking at square trees someday??

The Decorative Tile from Archeo Ceramica is a great addition to modern bathrooms, the tiles feature flowers, stones, metal, coloured glass, and natural grasses to create dynamic pallets of colour and style.

Suitable for floors, kitchen tops and bathroom surfaces, each decorative tile becomes a unique piece of art with it’s own charm. With fabulous patterns like the Shells which captures the essence of warm beaches and Field Daisies sprinkled over Coffee Beans for a rustic charm, the tiles abound with character and style. Resistant and long lasting, the Archeo Ceramica transparent tiles add a touch of creative glamour to contemporary settings.

It is an interesting option for a bathroom or a kitchen, now you just need to find nature inspired furniture and accesories to go with it. Even tho it might seem something like “mission imposible”, if you manage to do solve it, the result will be a gorgeous bathroom/kitchen in perfect harmony with nature. (i will try to guide you so the mission gets solved – by offering you from time to time accesories/furniture to go with this beautiful tile)
