There is a new light. No dazzles, No marks. Not even corpuscles or lumens. It is a warm and porous light, coming from the hand made pottery piece skin.

Sponge consists on a clay sphere where the light slips through, thus becomes more than a lamp, as an unusual clay piece with an unique design that achieves a very particular look along its uneven surface.

South Korea-based Doolight have introduced the Drop Light.

The ‘Drop Light’ is a brand new concept which brings us total freedom to create the interior mood via our lighting. The ‘Drop Light’ is cordless, heatless and limitless. It consists of rechargeable lights, or ‘drops’, which can be utilized as individual lamps; therefore, you can locate them anywhere in your home, adjust their intensity and create limitless moods.

It works in just the same way as ordinary lighting when the drops are on the leaf base. However, thanks to the highly efficient rechargeable battery inside the drops, the drops hanging from the leaf base charge irrespective of whether or not the light is in use, so you can separate them from the base and use them as portable lamps at any time.

The ‘Drop Light-mini’, which uses only a single ‘drop’, is an alternative for smaller and more intimate settings. This lovely little lamp can be located in doorways or on tables to enrich and enliven your home life.

Australian design studio Evie Group have created the Spun Lamps collection.

The Spun light was inspired by the classic wooden top toy. In this, the concept was transformed into a decorative lighting piece, available as a floor, table and pendant lamp.

Continuing the theme of playfulness, the design is flexible in its positioning of angles as a floor and table lamp with the addition of a rubber base support piece. The wire pays further homage to the traditional top, which is able to be wound around the lamp or loosely placed on the floor, resembling a top after it has spun.

The polished mirror finishes of brass and silver colours and curved surfaces, create an interesting reflection of the surrounding environment. When positioning the two lamps sizes in clusters, the play of light is emphasised, creating a bold statement to any space.

The Spun lamps do not have any visible screws or fasteners on the outer surface. This creates a clean lined design, mimicking the smooth profile of the spinning top.

The frosted glass shade is securely held in place with an innovative screw method. A thread is moulded into the glass during manufacture with three locking points. This allows a simple twist of the glass shade to access the LED lighting when needed.

The electrical wire (flex) has intentionally been made long to become a feature of the lamp. The rope like wire relates back to the winding up and spinning of the top allowing an element of play with the floor lamp and its display.

First of all i have to mention the fact that “Spun” in romanian means “tell”, secondly this lamp reminds not only me but also i guess most of the people of their childhood due to the fact that’s already mentioned above – that it resembles a humming top. Interesting and appealing idea for the design of this lightning piece.

Taking recycled advertising banners as the project’s starting point; the designers gave a unique three-dimensionality to the material by cutting it into small pieces and combining them together to create interesting volumes of light and texture.

The vintage stands were rescued from antique stores from Cat Street in Central Hong Kong and kept in their untouched original conditions. The designers focused their efforts by creating each light shade individually and specifically for each stand, selecting the right banners, sorting out matching colors and sewing each patch by hand to build the perfect irregular shape.

Living Pixels Collection is a limited edition of one-off lamps for sale.

As the banners are printed in one side only, the lamps appear to be white and pale when switched off, but the plain appearance radically changes once the lamps are lighted on and the colors emerge from the inside. Due to the properties of the material, the light is smoothly diffused through the fabric creating a balloon of multi-colored light, but at the same time, the small banner swatches sewed together create a surface filled with holes from where the light escapes and scatters the surrounding environment with a vivid luminous pattern.

These Eva gold lamps with golden lamp shades by Masiero are embracing this year’s hottest color and trend in home decor.

The Italian company presents these sexy, sculptural and ever-luxurious lamps, which come in the choice of pendant, chandelier, sconce, floor and tabletop form. These lamps feature a wood frame painted gold (but also available in silver, black, white, orange and red finish) with a matching golden shade, and we love the muted finish – call it “subtle sparkle.” This opulent metallic finish is invading every room, every home. Embrace it, and go for the gold!

As she confesses, the founder of reMade USA, Shannon South has been collecting vintage crochet doilies for several months, with plans to make this pendant lamp.

The result of her hard work is this wonderful — Upcycled Doily Lamp –. Not just a pendant lamp but also a globe of lace displaying flowers and leaves, whorls and circles. Best of all is the effect of the light shinning through the needlework wonders that compose this prototype: “The shadows that it creates on the ceiling and walls are just gorgeous.”

A message from the designer in order to make your worries go away “Some people have expressed concern over the severity of the shadows. That can easily be controlled with a dimmer, a lower watt bulb, or other lights in the room. For my photos I wanted to show the extreme, so I took the photo at night with that being the only light on in the room. I think the shadows are really beautiful and they really only are that intense on the ceiling/upper walls. Not very distracting.” You can read more here about this piece of interior design.

If you like the sophisticated look of tassels in your home decor but don’t know quite how to create that perfect look, here are a few things that you need to consider. Tassels are not only sophisticated in design but they can create a look that you can be proud of. Tassels are attractive and can also be used as part of a focal point.

Tassels can be made from many different things; shells, ribbons, beads, feathers, and the most popular thing, thread. Which one will look good in your room? That depends on a lot of things. First, it’s important to find out where you are going to display the tassels. They can be placed on duvet covers, comforters, couch or chair buttons, lamp shades, napkin rings, curtain tie backs, hang from doorknobs, hang from drawer pulls, hang from bedposts, dangle from ceiling fan pulls, sewn on drapes at the pinch pleats, placed around the neck of a decorative bottle.

Large sized tassels are great for creating tiebacks for curtains. You can also use coordinating tiebacks to place on the back of dining room chairs. These tassels can look complete when you use a cord loop over the post of the chair. This allows the tassel to hang down and create a sophisticated look even in your dining room.

If you have a guest room, consider using the tassels to complete the look of your guest towels. You can hang them around the towel and display them on the counter or you can sew them on each corner of the towel for a sophisticated look.

Giving a gift can seem even more extravagant if you place it around a perfume bottle. You don’t need to gift wrap your presents any more. Give wine glasses and a bottle of champagne or if you give clothing for Christmas gifts then consider rolling them up and sliding the tassel over the gift.

If you like to read, consider creating a bookmark using a small tassel and some ribbon. Never lose your place again.

Take an ordinary bed quilt and add tassels to each corner of the quilt. This is the best way to turn a simple quilt into an extravagant quilt.

Tassels are not expensive and there are countless uses for them. If you want to use them around the house or if you want to give them as gifts there are so many tassels to choose from. Tassels are also available in a variety of colors as well.

If you have area rugs that you want to place on your walls, use tassels to complete the look. Tassels can be added to green rugs or any other color rug that you like and hung up to be displayed. They make excellent centerpieces.

Before, tassels were only found on the most sophisticated items and that is why today, when you look at anything with tassels it looks very sophisticated. Tassels complete the look of anything.
