Spaceship Bathroom Design

After thousands of years of ceramic history you might think there isn’t anything significant left to try in the design of cups with handles. The fact that unusual mugs usually are awkward to use would reinforce this idea. However, after years of designing ceramics, David Pier realized that all conventional coffee cup designs were determined more by the manufacturing and design processes than by the needs of the coffee cup user. What does a perfect cylinder have to do with the shape of the human hands or lips? It is merely a simple shape that is easy to make on a lathe, turntable, or in a CAD program.

Rotor House is a project designed by the designer Luigi Colani. He has created a space-saving house with a six square meter cylinder inside that contains a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The cylinder rotates left or right bringing the room you want into view of the main living room. There’s a separate toilet and a small hallway, and everything is controlled with a remote.

The Jet is a project designed by Brodie Neill and it is a Swarovski inspired desk with seamless fluidity partly encrusted with crystals. The dynamic forms undulations are detailed with a mix of dark crystal colours and effects contrasted against the smooth graphite table surface.
