Light Everywhere…

This will allow those of us who are night-owls to live in a well-lit workplace (or playplace) with light above us, below us, or all around us. When this day comes, it will be a magically all-lit fairyland of glee and friendship. Today we are one step closer to that dream with this light-seat-or-table from a mister Gilles Rivière, who names his light-tribution “Ti.Galet!”

Each Ti.Galet is handmade. Several months are necessary to its manufacture.

“The Ti.Galet is a dream born by a movement of pencil, and the movement continued… It can be lounge table, sitted, light or quite simply Art object, It is what you want it to be !”

Morpheo

Eero Aarnio

The hanging bubble chair is made of clear acrylic and chromed or stainless steel.  The cushions are stocked in silver or white leather or they can be ordered in other colored fabrics or COM.

The modern hanging Bubble Chair also impresses the user by the special accoustic. The Bubble swallows the sound and you feel isolated inside in a pleasant way, even when the bubble chair is placed in a crowded place.

Eero Aarnio was – and still is – one of the modern furniture pioneers in using plastics in industrial design. Plastic material set the designers free to create every shape and use every color they wanted. This gave birth to objects oscillating between function and fun – and always fascinating ones.  Eero Aarnio had said “after I had made the Ball Chair I wanted to have the light inside it and so I had the idea of a transparent ball where light comes from all directions,”  thus the hanging bubble chair.

Professional installation is recommended.  It is straight foward – a large hook goes into beam in the ceiling or anchored if ceiling is cement.  Creative or special installations can be used and is up to your installer.  If you are local to Los Angeles, we can recommend someone.  A rotating/swing hook can be used and will further enhance the enjoyment of the hanging bubble chair.

Alien

The designer describes this collection as: “It seems as if a strange creature is sliding down a rope.  Gently and almost weightlessly, radiating a warm and graceful light.  Alien.  Available in two different sizes and four variations, as pendant, table, floor lights, and outdoor.”

The strange but appealing design makes from these lightning pieces the perfect items which can add a modern touch to any of your rooms. I am sure you can’t wait till it gets into stores because so do i!

Designed by Rob Jones, the chair at first glance appears deceptively simple.  However, prod a little further and the designer’s unique sensibility comes to the forefront. The hammock-style design is not coincidental, as this chair seeks to bring a hint of quirkiness to a structured environment.  The diamond-stitched pattern and buttonless tufting takes center stage and gives a nod to old design principles. Since the chair has been constructed from high-density, high-resiliency foam and boasts of an all hardwood frame with metal legs, to doubt its durability might seem like an exercise in futility.

The Slink Chair measures 36” w X 40” d X 35” h and apart from leather can also be upholstered in ultra suede. Like all American Leather products, the Slink can also be customized according to the client’s desires.  Hence be it lashings of bright pinks or the more placid monochromatic tones, the Slink can be conjured up in any color tone.

These Wall Stickers might be the touch your dull or less colorful house need to be what you have dreamed it beeing. As there are so many models i wish you good luck in finding the one that suits you! (I already found what suits me)

All this by way of a timely introduction—presently writing mid-way through week one of what I like to call the anti-Wimbledon, bastion of the likes of ruffians Connors, McEnroe, and Ilie Nastase, New York’s U.S. Open—to a collection of tennis-themed furniture.

Tennis Ball Bench

Dutch Designers Tejo Remy and Rene VeenHuizen’s interest in the played-out tennis ball stems from a broader concern with found objects and re-purposed sustainability rather than a fascination with racket sports. Either way, their —made from a simple steel frame and hundreds of well-placed balls, does double duty as homage to the sport and jokey reclamation; and it’s sufficiently visually striking, as well as comfortable, to have won a place as permanent seating for Rotterdam’s Museum Van Boijmans Beuningen, where it fits right in among the work of Surrealist Man Ray and Iconoclast Marcel Duchamp.

Ball Boy Stool

Next, the “Ball Boy Stool” by Charles O’Toole for Charles Furniture features a seat of 117 tennis balls strung together on an unseen shaft perched atop four simple steel rods. Originally designed as an exhibition piece, it’s now being released in limited runs for consumers. The designer describes it as “An experiment of shape, color and material using the tennis ball.”

Tennis Ball Chair

Finally there’s the “Tennis Ball Chair”. Made by DesignerWill Holman of 50 balls (25 for the seat and 25 for the back), the chair is a simple chrome frame holding plywood sheets with tennis-ball sized holes. The key according to Holman is that the holes are of different depths and diameters, which allows the balls—when sat upon—to move and compress and conform to the body’s curves. There with answering the oft-voiced question “is it comfortable?” with a resounding “Yes!”

These three pieces represent an intriguing contribution to the increasing roster of furniture that’s found or made from re-purposed material. It’s always exciting to see designers come up with a new use for stuff that’s typically thrown away, so beyond appealing to the closet tennis fanatic within, they each do their small part to save the world…

T2 Coffee Table

The T2 coffee table is a moulded timber structure that can be produced in a variety of
colours and finishes. The table incorporates elegant curves that work on several planes,
creating a piece that constantly changes form and detail from whichever direction you view it. The piece incorporates an inherent storage space and appears to ‘float’ just above the ground. Available with 3 or 4 ‘legs’. This piece of furniture could add a futuristic and modern touch to your relaxing room, to your living room or any other space you wish, as it is perfect for drinking a coffee or just sustaining some papers/books.

T2A Table

The T2A is a heat formed acrylic table produced in a variety of colours and opacities, from clear to solid. The table incorporates elegant curves that work on several planes, creating a piece that constantly changes form and detail from whichever direction you view it. As the smaller “sister” of T2 Coffee Table, this table is awesome as it can be used not only for an indoor environment but also for any outdoor space you want to add a modern, futuristic touch to. It’s functionality can also vary, it can be a coffee table and a newspaper holder at the same time.

READesign Table

The READesign table is a moulded plywood lozenge structure ‘cut’ into sections and re-assembled with each section slightly offset from the others. The table incorporates an inherent storage area within its architectural form. Originally designed for a touring art exhibition the design is now available to commission. It is a great coffee table or reading table idea, the design the material all of it is awesome! Not to mention that it can be used both in an outdoor and in an indoor environment.

My advice concerning these two awesome tables is to try them and this not only due to the awesome design but also due to the fact that both tables have double functionality and will also add a great touch to any space you decide to add them to.

Nendo’s solution to his challenge transformed a roll of pleated paper into a small chair that appears naturally as you peel away its outside layers, one layer at a time.
Resins added during the original paper production process adds strength and the ability to remember forms, and the pleats themselves give the chair elasticity and a springy resilience, for an overall effect that looks almost rough, but gives the user a soft, comfortable seating experience.
Since the production process is so simple, they thought that eventually, the chair could be shipped as one compact roll for the user to cut open and peel back at home. The chair has no internal structure. It is not finished, and it is assembled without nails or screws. This primitive design responds gently to fabrication and distribution costs and environmental concerns, the kinds of issues that face our 21st century selves.

Even tho this project might seem something easy to make and useless to some people, i consider it interesting and even if i would not get one for myself maybe some of my readers will be interested in buying one. I am sure it was not that simple to get the ideea of the Cabbage Chair and this is why i decided to post it in the first place.
