German designer Manuel Welsky has created the SCRW stool.

Inspiration for this two-piece furniture was an object from everyday life: The bottle corks. Simple and aesthetically it rotates out of the bottle, and simple and aesthetically should be the principle of “SCREW”.

Obvisiously, “Screw” is based on the principle of screwing. The new interpretation of the screw makes the height adjustment self-explanatory and easy. By the apparent leadership of the screw thread, the refined combination comes into focus. Made from a high-quality steel pipe, the frame is an exciting contrast to the cork material from which the body is made. The massive Korkzylinder is light in this combination and because of its unique features provides a comfortable seating experience.

EOOS have designed the BAO chair for german furniture manufacturer Walter Knoll.

Ok, so which project are we talking about and what on earth is Alcantara?

First, Alcantara is this innovative material developed for surface covering with an incredible soft texture. Not only is it pleasing to the senses, but it is extremely durable and respectful of the environment. So what exactly can it be used for? That’s where theCan You Imagine project comes in. It’s a collaboration between Maxxi Museum and Alcantara which invites designers to explore the creative and application possibilities of this material. So far, Alcantara has been used most popularly in car interiors, but we imagine potential applications to be quite vast; furniture, walls and soft furnishings come to mind immediately from an interior design perspective. We are excited to see what they come up with.

Muslavi Gallery is the exclusive online home for product created by the award-winning Polish artist and designer Remigiusz Laskowski. Each piece is designed in Laskowski’s distinct visual style and goes through a three stage production process.

First, each piece is laser-cut in steel; second, the pieces are sprayed with a powder coating pigment; and the final workshop phase is dedicated to polishing the pigment to perfection. Some pieces go through a fourth stage of hand-shaping by Laskowski himself.

Powder coated pigments are available in many different shades, levels of matt or shine, and can be applied to textured or smooth surfaces alike. They are more robust and adaptable than other finishes, and maintain their brilliance for longer than many alternatives.

The powder is environmentally friendly especially in comparison to liquid pigments. Liquid finishes use solvents which contain “volatile organic compounds” that are damaging to the environment. These elements are only found in traces or are altogether absent from powder coating.
