Butterflies are so delightful outside in the garden–why not incorporate their images indoors as well?

From women young to old, the butterfly is a universal symbol of beauty, freedom, and rebirth. While color schemes and intensity levels vary from one person to another, modern decoration frequently incorporates these fragile creatures into decor for the entire home. Designed by Svilen Gamolov,Butterfly Coffee Table is a concept table inspired by the beautiful creation of nature, the butterflies. The material used is glass, polywood, glossy paint that plays up the raw beauty of the materials. Kick back and relax down for a hot cup of coffee, and wake up your boring décor with the butterfly fluttering around.

James Ian Killinger, a 2008 graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Design and here is one of his pieces of work: Kersplat Coffee Table.

James says:
A liquid’s life is an ephemeral one. Its molecular structure determines that its movements are transient and fleeting—chaotic, yet bound by the laws of physics. There is a simple elegance to the moment liquid collides with a denser surface. I wanted to hold onto that moment a little longer. Capture it. Examine it.

Believe it or not, this piece was actually crafted out of poplar wood. After shaping the individual “splatters tendrils,” they were joined to a base and the piece was finessed further. Ensuring that each of the four contact splatters were level and even was paramount. The table was then painted in a high gloss red and topped off by a custom cut piece of glass.

The architectural firm of Claesson Koivisto Rune has designed the Etage Coffee Table for Swedish manufacturer OFFECCT.

Etage consists of three coffee tables in different colors and sizes. At first glance, they appear to almost hover above the floor. The three table tops protrude in different directions like balconies, revealing their underlying architectural inspiration: the table is a mini-building without walls—a building under construction. The different levels create spaces for magazines and remote control devices.

Each table features one strong color and two muted colors. Bright green, pink, and orange tones are combined with more muted shades of blue, beige, and brown. The color inspiration comes from the team’s many trips to South America and Spain for lecturing and teaching engagements. The colors of the Etage tables are an interesting combination of a muted Scandinavian palette, and more intense colors that are almost drawn from a folk art tradition.

A LuxeHome participant at IDS, Roseland Art & Decoration is showing the Macao Table PM, which should fulfill their goal of bringing you furniture, lighting, and objets d’arts that “nourish the soul of the home.”

Macao Table PM…

The Toronto gallery is wisely featuring the new table by Francois Champsaur, who studied at both the Beaux Art of Marseilles and the Arts Decoratifs of Paris and since 1999 has been concentrating on “an important collection of seats and furniture.” His lacquered metal Macao Table PM measures 48 ½” wide x 17” high x 26” deep, making it the perfect size to grace your living room, a centerpiece in black, white, red, or a limited edition polished stainless steel. Part Calder, part Miro, part kidney bean.

The bean-shaped surface is carried by three “feet,” each of which is part of another amoeba-like form, reminding me that indeed “Three is the Magic Number” (an anthem to engineering and everything tripodal from School House Rock).

Many of these pieces, which are meant for residential design, also work well for commercial projects. Imagine the Macao Table PM in black at Madrid’s AC Palacio del Retiro, where it might seem to have jumped straight out of a giant Lichtenstein print of “Drowning Girl”; or in white at South Beach’s Gansevoort Hotel, where it could complement the intense pops of magenta. The offerings of Roseland Art & Decoration can nourish the soul of the hotel as well.

That cliché about diamonds being a girl’s best friend may hold water, however its chocolate and vanilla that evokes a truly emotional response from moi. It may be an aphrodisiac canard but the potent combination of chocolate and vanilla is nothing less than a celebration of the senses.

So imagine my delight when I came across the Chocolate Vanilla Coffee Table that emerges as a harbinger of creativity and satiates the chocoholic in me without the added calories!

About the designer and the idea…

Indian industrial designer Abhijeet Kumar in collaboration with Satyajeet Kumar has designed the Chocolate Vanilla Table for his design house Thingks. The table certainly reverberates with this design principle, since visually it’s a treat for the eye without sacrificing any elemental properties.

More about the Chocolate Vanilla Table…

The Chocolate Vanilla Table is highlighted by its creative carving that juxtaposes beautifully with the table’s clean lines. While the Kumars do seem to appear inspired by their heritage and Indian legacy, the table avoids falling in the trap of being “ethnocentric”. The Table tilts towards a more modern design sensibility and the combination of the monochromatic elements is foolproof.

It can perfectly suit…

The Chocolate Vanilla Table according to Abhijeet Kumar was manufactured exclusively for a client based in the erstwhile princely state of “Rajasthan”. No surprises then that, I can see it inhabiting a space in some palatial home in India that makes for a kaleidoscopic colour explosion or taking centerstage in a modern NY Upper East Side apartment. The aura of internationalization that surrounds the table crystallizes flawlessly with cultural influence and hence makes for a captivating contradiction, don’t you reckon?

Dancing Coffee Table and Carpet

Just as if they were dancing together, the carpet and the table are inspired by Mexican Traditional Dances and Dresses.

The goal was to design something inspired by culture and folklore, in this case Mexican’s. So in a place with such a variety of colors and folklore like Mexico, is very difficult to take all and combine it in one piece, so I look at some of our dresses and colors and try to capture the shapes made by dresses in movement in order to design the Dancing Coffee Table and the Dancing Carpet.

The Dancing Coffee Table is a rigid surface with small waves in the exterior, which leaves plenty space in the center for a lamp and small things.

The Dancing Carpet is one big surface with soft waves in different vibrant colors; acting like one big dress in movement on the floor.

The Dancing Coffee Table and Carpet have an unique design and are still in the project phase, if anyone is interested in helping Joel Escalona to get his project in stores contact him. To be honest i can’t wait to see it in stores and be able to buy it.

After presenting you the Globus Chair designed by Stefano Bigi and produced by La Cividina, the moment came to present you another interesting creating of Stefano Bigi: Molecule!

Molecule is modular seating with a minimalist feel that can come with or without tables and a variety of cushions. The seats are a wooden frame upholstered with non-deformable polyurethane foam with polyester fibre and the cover will be either fabric or leather. The possibilities are exhaustive when you think of the uses for this furniture.

Molecule can complete perfectly a modern restaurant or even a club but at the same time it can be the missing element from your living room or from any chilling space that needs a modern touch. It can be used for a tea party, for a normal party or even just for a coffee with friends. Enjoy!

Hudson Furniture Inc. respects the natural forms of trees and inherent grain of wood with well defined organic lines and geometric forms using traditional joinery techniques and hand rubbed oil finishes.

All Hudson furniture is available in custom dimensions, custom finishes and a variety of wood species such as Claro Walnut, Black Walnut, Myrtle, Jasmine, Acacia, Satinwood and Ebonized Pine.

None of the woods they use are harvested from old growth forests. Their wood slabs are domestically sourced from either salvaged trees or wind/storm damaged trees. The trees have an average life span of 250-300 years. When these trees die, they gradually do so from the crest to the roots. The farmers or the tree owners thus have to remove these trees as they might cause damage to houses, other trees or outlying areas. They integrate various wood species into their designs to produce unique works of art.

” We put high regard and value on these trees by turning them into pieces of enduring art instead of leaving them out to decay “, Barlas Baylar, Hudson Furniture Inc. founder and designer.

Hudson Furniture Inc. is also New York’s only repository for legally harvested petrified wood. For Hudson Furniture Inc. it was second nature to explore petrified wood as an extension of its already existing collection of organic contemporary designs. Petrified wood, having the visual characteristics of wood but the feel of stone, represents a contemporary fusion of the two original materials into a new compelling organic interior accessory. Hudson Furniture Inc.’s owner Barlas Baylar takes extra precaution with embassies and consulates to seek approvals and legalities of petrified wood exportation from all regions of the world. Hudson Furniture Inc. has also recently added a line of solid walnut furniture designs by startchitects Renzo Piano, Mario Botta and Terry Dwan.

If it were for me to redecorate my back yard or even my whole house, they are the people who i’d choose to buy all the stuff from. Not only that i can be sure i didn’t “kill” a tree but the look of all their work is just wonderfull.

British furniture designer/maker Michael Armstrong established Afid Design in 2005, providing a commission based service for bespoke hand-made furniture as well as developing products for manufacture.

T2 Coffee Table

The T2 coffee table is a moulded timber structure that can be produced in a variety of
colours and finishes. The table incorporates elegant curves that work on several planes,
creating a piece that constantly changes form and detail from whichever direction you view it. The piece incorporates an inherent storage space and appears to ‘float’ just above the ground. Available with 3 or 4 ‘legs’. This piece of furniture could add a futuristic and modern touch to your relaxing room, to your living room or any other space you wish, as it is perfect for drinking a coffee or just sustaining some papers/books.

T2A Table

The T2A is a heat formed acrylic table produced in a variety of colours and opacities, from clear to solid. The table incorporates elegant curves that work on several planes, creating a piece that constantly changes form and detail from whichever direction you view it. As the smaller “sister” of T2 Coffee Table, this table is awesome as it can be used not only for an indoor environment but also for any outdoor space you want to add a modern, futuristic touch to. It’s functionality can also vary, it can be a coffee table and a newspaper holder at the same time.

READesign Table

The READesign table is a moulded plywood lozenge structure ‘cut’ into sections and re-assembled with each section slightly offset from the others. The table incorporates an inherent storage area within its architectural form. Originally designed for a touring art exhibition the design is now available to commission. It is a great coffee table or reading table idea, the design the material all of it is awesome! Not to mention that it can be used both in an outdoor and in an indoor environment.

My advice concerning these two awesome tables is to try them and this not only due to the awesome design but also due to the fact that both tables have double functionality and will also add a great touch to any space you decide to add them to.
