Gardening
Did you ever think how it would be if you could rebuild a corner of nature which existed millions of years ago? This is the idea from which Nick Williams-Ellis started. He realized in 2006 a garden with which he participated at the design contest Chelsea Flower Show and won the silver medal. Important is not only the original idea but also the fact that he wanted to bring in the attention of the public the necessity to conservate zones and species of natural importance.
As well as using exotic plant material transported from the Sub Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury, stone and fossil remains from the Purbeck quarries will also feature within this garden and will hint at the incredible environment that once characterised these shores some 150 million years ago.

Zaya, a dynamic newly-formed Abu Dhabi-based real estate company has launched its first of many property ventures; Nurai, a spectacular private community of limited edition resort beach-front estates and water villas on a natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
The design concept of the island stemmed from Zaya’s desire to provide residents with abundant pieces of land and ultimate privacy. Two strands of Water Villas extend into the ocean, and Nurai’s Beachfront Estates are integrated into the gently scoping landscape. A carpet of greenery unfolds across the island, with sweeping structures underneath to envelop residents in their own world of private luxury. Island feels untouched as majority of land is landscaped lush greenery as opposed to populated with buildings.

After thousands of years of ceramic history you might think there isn’t anything significant left to try in the design of cups with handles. The fact that unusual mugs usually are awkward to use would reinforce this idea. However, after years of designing ceramics, David Pier realized that all conventional coffee cup designs were determined more by the manufacturing and design processes than by the needs of the coffee cup user. What does a perfect cylinder have to do with the shape of the human hands or lips? It is merely a simple shape that is easy to make on a lathe, turntable, or in a CAD program.

The expanding table shown here is the result of many years of modern development, but also follows a line of history of more than one and a half centuries. This, the Fletcher Capstan Table, is unique.
It is a round table, which at the press of a button, amazingly doubles its seating capacity and, just as astonishingly, remains truly circular. Very importantly it stores its expansion leaves within itself.

Alessandro Bêda, from Portugal is an industrial designer who has created the project “Whale Vase“. His idea is interesting, he designed a two-piece flower vase in the shape of a whale, so technically the vase can be as long as you want. The flowers are placed in the so called “blow hole” of the whale, so he replaced the water burst with colorful flowers.

It is no small wonder that Nori Morimoto uses wood as his template in the expression of his artistry. Morimoto means “on the edge of the woods.” Perhaps a painter might trap the elements in the flat of a canvas, but Nori’s wall sculptures tame the elements in three-dimensional form. His carpenter beginnings lead him to make furniture as art and then art as furniture, and the evolution continues. Whether he is cutting, planing, carving, sandblasting, burning, or pressing his native wood, Nori looks to redefine his understanding of nature, the raw force at odds with the terrible beauty of a striving humankind. Nori is on the edge of the woods, looking out to us and bringing us the secret of the forest.

Sticking to the football(soccer) inspired design, here is another candidate that mainly puts accent on building the chair by using the main attraction of football: the game BALL. Despite the fact that at first sight the chair doesn’t seem very comfortable, you might be surprised. Photo Source: MrGadget.
